Welcome to the course website for Informatics 1: Data & Analysis (Inf1-DA)

This is a taught course at the University of Edinburgh suitable for first-year undergraduate students (SCQF level 8). The course provides an introduction to representing and interpreting data from areas across Informatics; treating in particular structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data models. The background images on this website are from EPCC, the national supercomputing facility based at the University of Edinburgh. EPCC hosts several high-performance computing systems such as the ARCHER Cray XC machine and the DiRAC BlueGene/Q. These supercomputers are matched with the high-capacity (70PB) robust storage of the UK Research Data Facility, also hosted at Edinburgh.
